| Tadalafil belongs to a group of medications called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. It is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (male impotence). It helps to achieve and maintain an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. It does this by allowing a greater flow of blood into the penis when a man taking the medication is sexually aroused. It works only with sexual stimulation and does not increase sexual desire.
As with any drug product, there may be side effects. The most commonly reported side effects in patients treated with Tadalafil during the testing of the product were:
1. headache
2. indigestion
3. back pain
4. muscle pain
5. flushing
6. stuffy nose
Patients who get back pain and muscle aches usually get them 12 to 24 hours after taking Tadalafil and these usually go away by themselves within 48 hours. A small number of patients taking Tadalafil also reported abnormal vision.
